It was a powerful and important day, that has inspired us to attack our core vision of a world class family of schools with renewed vigour and focus. I would like to record my sincere thanks to Alastair Kidd.

The workshops and work Alastair has done so far have been great and in fact exceed expectations. Really enjoyed by the team, and helped me and the team reframed our thinking.

Your probing questions and sensitivity yesterday had a powerful effect on me. Most importantly though, there seems to have been a change of mood amongst the team. I think your coaching unblocked something.

I came back feeling unsettled after our meeting- (I hasten to add in a very good way)- like the dream had been awoken again and some fire put back in and a path coming into view.

Aa great job facilitating the day, a master-class in how to run a meeting with everyone given time and space to express their views, each of equal importance.

This coaching has been most valuable to me, the best personal learning I’ve undertaken. I would highly recommend Alastair as an Executive Coach, he certainly helps you to bring fresh thinking to your beliefs and attitudes.

Very Satisfied. Helped me to stretch boundaries, open imagination and took me outside my comfort zone. I really utilised this in my business after coaching. I perform now with greater clarity of mind, and I am better equipped to be a more courageous and wiser leader.

Thanks, and praise! … I don't know how you did it but from the moment we met I knew you would … our governance day exceeded all expectations: it was wonderful for everyone to take of our hats and speak person to person … the day had enabled everyone to be heard, explore some complex realities, and together look forward to the next steps … all informal feedback remains very positive … I don't think it's a coincidence that Board meetings are more productive.

"Real behavioural change requires a level of self-insight, courage and vulnerability to practice new behaviours that is daunting. The discipline is one of honest self-assessment coupled with authentic dialogue. When this inner work of leadership is connected to a larger organisational imperative the resulting mix can be wondrously potent." Dan Holden
I believe that development (of self, of leadership, of team and of group effectiveness) starts with increased awareness and insight, understanding the power of our thinking and the choices that we can make. From that place there are no boundaries to possibility, and to the development and transformation that can be realised. I consider myself 'a work in progress' and I find that relating from this place attracts clients - they see that we are all learning, developing and evolving, and they have a greater sense of what's possible. I work with people, and teams and groups, to help them discover and have a greater sense of who they are and what they can become. These are essentials for effective self and organisational leadership. |
"... we have a shared belief that one of the greatest forms of service to people is to see their essential selves - that somehow through my seeing that, they experience more of themselves" Circle of Seven interviewed by Otto Scharmer
Choosing To Work Together
Please look at my point of view below when considering working with me:
If the coaching context for you is of a transactional or incidental nature, then I am unlikely to be the best coach for you. However, if it is about fulfilling your sense of purpose or mission, of a direction of becoming more of who you are, can and want to be, then I may well be an excellent coaching partner for you.
When people thinking about coaching ask me “how do I choose a coach?”, “how do I know what it will be like to work with this coach?”, “how do I know if it will work out?”. I tell them that I’ve discovered three things that are most important - this is the way I choose my coach:

Read more ...
- get an experience of being coached by the coach;
- make sure you feel the coach has a good sense of the journey you might need to take and where you’re looking to get to;
- make sure that you feel seen and acknowledged by the coach as the person you are.
And then I tell folks that the biggest factor contributing to a successful coaching relationship is the degree to which they themselves embrace the process.
I know I'm not the right coach for everyone, and that everyone is not the right client for me. I know I work best with clients who with enthusiasm, and maybe a little trepidation, want to explore together, seeking to realise their ambitions, growing their leadership capacity, or scaling that of their teams or organisation.
For many people coaching is often about seeking regular support to thrive in an increasingly challenging, complex and often lonely environment, to consider “now what?” and make meaning, to review and renew purpose.
My approach is to “be with” you, to come alongside for a period of your journey: being useful through being me; bringing curiosity and a desire for connection; promoting, provoking, and providing insight. You will always be the expert in yourself and your organisation, my work is to help you make sense, illuminate hidden dynamics, challenge assumptions and beliefs, expand possibility, offer stretch towards growth.
When I ask myself "do I want to work with this person?" what I'm looking for is: someone who is invested in and committed to the work of coaching; where the outcomes will have a personal and professional impact to who they are becoming and why; who will value time to think and exploration together, and who will benefit from challenge and honest feedback without a vested interest. And most of all I want to feel that I'm going to enjoy working with the person, be able to have fun and learn myself.
If you're interested in working with me the links above will help you understand if my background, style and approach fit with you. You'll learn why I see value in my work, how I work and how you can get the best from coaching,
"... So I see the work is to keep looking for the right moment and to support that moment coming alive in every person, in every way I can. I am happy to dedicate the rest of my life to asking the questions that can crack the trance ..." Christina Baldwin
